About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Convert the annual business plan into a clear blueprint for the future technology environment (Target State Architecture)
Manage transition plans from current systems to future-state architecture for major initiatives
Lead the Architecture Review Board and manage the Front Door architectural review process before budget approval
Ensure strategic bids allocate a dedicated 15–20% remediation budget for technical debt
Maintain the Level Zero Architecture Map for Board and ExCo decision-making
Partner with Business Architecture to create Enterprise Blueprints mapping strategic goals to technical capabilities and data flows
Establish and enforce Secure by Design and Data First architectural principles
Provide Architecture-as-a-Service to senior stakeholders
Lead, mentor, and grow a unified team of Enterprise and Technical Architects
Establish a formal competency framework for architects
Manage preferred delivery partners and technical guardrails
Author Architecture Steer papers for major investments
Develop High-Level Designs for critical, complex initiatives

Requirements

What you’ll need

Proven experience converting abstract business strategies into Target State Architecture (TSA) blueprints and managing transition roadmaps for complex digital estates
Experience leading technical assurance (e.g., an Architecture Review Board) and defining architectural principles, such as Secure by Design and Data First
Proven track record of identifying architectural risks and successfully articulating, managing, and securing investment to remediate technical debt
Ability to translate complex technical problems into simplified executive views, such as a Level Zero map, to influence Board and ExCo-level decision-making
Experience leading, mentoring, and developing the strategic capabilities of architecture teams while managing technical guardrails for external delivery partners
Enterprise Architecture presentation clearly outlining strategic impacts across People, Process, Data, and Technology (PPDT)
