About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Strategically manage a sales territory selling and marketing Abercrombie & Kent's global portfolio of products and experiences to retail travel agencies
- Focus sales efforts on luxury travel and leisure markets
- Implement a cost-effective sales strategy to meet or exceed annual sales and revenue goals within an annual budget
- Grow existing sales and prospect for new business within the Western territory
- Achieve assigned revenue goals and agency/advisor engagement metrics
- Serve as regional brand ambassador and build confidence and loyalty in the A&K brand
- Initiate and execute training and product knowledge seminars for travel advisors and consumers
- Plan and manage sales activities of DMC and sister-brand sales colleagues in the territory as needed
- Represent A&K at trade shows and travel agency-organized consumer events, including setting up displays and collateral
- Cover events for other Sales Directors as needed
- Report sales activities and market intelligence in OneIS within required deadlines
- Submit expenses in Concur according to company policy
- Coordinate travel agency quality control and customer service issues with the appropriate A&K office
- Maintain travel agency/advisor databases, CRM records and invitation lists
- Share market intelligence and best practices with A&K colleagues
- Invite independent contractors from host agencies to local events and share contact information across territories
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience in strategic territory management
- Excellent sales and customer service skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- Self-motivated and results oriented
- Excellent relationship building skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Fluency in MS Office applications, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Ability to set up a consumer show and trade show booth, including signage, table covering, decoration and collateral
- Ability to lift parcels of up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to carry a laptop in carry-on luggage when traveling by air
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
- 5–10 years of experience in travel industry sales
- Extensive international destination knowledge, including A&K top-selling destinations preferred
- Existing travel industry sales relationships in the assigned region and a demonstrated track record of sales success within a sales territory with a leading travel company required
- Must reside in San Francisco, Seattle, Portland or Denver metro area
- 60% business travel expected, including international destinations at times throughout the year
- Must own or lease a reliable vehicle, including required liability insurance coverage, for business purposes within a drivable distance from home
- Ability to receive and store sales collateral, home office equipment and trade show materials in or near home
- Valid driver's license required
- Valid passport required
- Must be eligible for employment in the United States
