About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide in-home infusion therapy with regular travel to and from patient residences
- Administer prescribed specialty medications through intravenous, subcutaneous, or other appropriate routes
- Monitor patients during and after infusions for adverse reactions or complications
- Conduct pre-treatment assessments, including medical history, allergies, and current medications
- Evaluate physical condition and vital signs before, during, and after infusion procedures
- Identify, document, and communicate treatment risks, adverse reactions, and complications
- Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects, treatment expectations, and emergency response
- Provide post-infusion guidance and follow-up communications
- Provide clinical feedback and collaborate on care plan adjustments
- Maintain accurate infusion, medication administration, patient education, and follow-up documentation
- Collaborate with nurses, pharmacists, and pharmacy staff on coordinated patient care
- Communicate treatment concerns and patient responses to the Clinical Nurse Supervisor
- Prepare and handle medications according to safety and regulatory protocols
- Verify medication accuracy, drug, and dosage
- Maintain sterile technique and infection control procedures
- Monitor and manage specialty medication and infusion supply inventory
- Support insurance verification and prior authorization processes
- If actively IgCN-certified, participate in the Immunoglobulin Mentorship Program as assigned, including mentoring, training, observation, and competency documentation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN)
- College degree/certification required or equivalent experience
- 2 years of RN experience required
- 1 year of experience accessing PIV lines, ports, and maintaining PICC lines required
- 1 year of ER/ICU/infusion experience preferred
- 1 year of infusion experience in a hospital or Home Health setting preferred
- Valid driver's license required
- Automobile insurance coverage required
- Access to a reliable automobile required
- Ability to multitask and frequently change direction
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen required
- Must be willing to travel up to 2 hours from Effingham, IL to patients' homes
