About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Consult with internal application owners to analyze business requirements and recommend RDBMS changes
  • Build positive client, organizational, vendor, and professional relationships
  • Analyze vendors and products and make recommendations
  • Translate business requirements into functional database specifications
  • Recommend RDBMS designs for enhancements, efficiency initiatives, and production problem solutions
  • Identify design issues and concerns early
  • Provide expert guidance on technical, business, and operational impacts
  • Provide guidance and training to less experienced personnel
  • Manage, oversee, and review complex project plans, tasks, dependencies, and issue mitigation
  • Support project execution and production support for applications
  • Review initiative status, compliance and regulatory changes, vendor changes, and maintenance changes with technology stakeholders
  • Serve as subject matter expert for RDBMS functionality and testing
  • Coordinate integrated testing and resolve test-environment issues
  • Ensure resolution of enhancement, reliability, and production-problem issues
  • Recommend new RDBMS technology, policies, and processes
  • Provide feedback on vendor software and database changes
  • Identify performance and effectiveness improvements
  • Maintain internal control standards and implement audit and regulatory action items
  • Identify risk-related issues for escalation
  • Serve as a technical representative on committees and ad-hoc projects
  • Contribute to departmental strategies, solution design, and resource allocation
  • Provide backup to more experienced personnel and complete other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate degree and a minimum of 8 years RDBMS experience, OR a combined minimum of 10 years higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 8 years RDBMS experience
  • Prior experience working simultaneously on multiple projects of a complex nature
  • Experience leading large system and RDBMS enhancements, conversions, and production problem resolution
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong task management skills
  • Experience leading problem-solving efforts and issue resolution
  • Mastery with RDBMS skills, tools and functions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, organizational, and time management skills

  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with bank applications, framework, business needs and RDBMS direction and framework (preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree or higher (preferred)
  • Proven mentoring and leadership capabilities in RDBMS project analysis, design, development, troubleshooting and tuning (preferred)
  • Mastery of multiple RDBMS skills, tools and functions with advanced knowledge of operating systems (preferred)
  • Previous experience in banking RDBMS support (preferred)
  • CAPPM experience (preferred)
  • Ability to understand supported businesses and their terminology
  • Ability to understand technical, business and operational impacts of projects or problems
