About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Establish Cogent as a strong partner to the global Systemic Mastocytosis patient advocacy community
- Build strategic long-term partnerships, strengthen existing collaborations, and identify new groups for engagement
- Develop, lead, and execute the annual Patient Advocacy & Engagement strategic plan, including commercial launches
- Lead external patient advocacy engagement strategy and execute strategic partnerships with patient advocacy groups and medical associations
- Develop and execute patient-facing educational initiatives focused on program awareness, disease education, and access to care
- Support global, national, and local patient advocacy organizations through relationship building, networking, capacity building, and best-practice sharing
- Conduct virtual and in-person patient advisory boards and champion patient insights
- Collaborate with Marketing, Market Access, Patient Services, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Patient Recruitment, Legal, Regulatory, and Research teams
- Oversee vendors, budgets, timelines, and deliverables for advocacy and engagement initiatives
- Coordinate Cogent’s presence at patient meetings and awareness days/months
- Represent Cogent at U.S. and global patient advocacy meetings, events, and scientific congresses
- Develop metrics to measure advocacy initiative success
- Innovate and elevate Cogent’s patient advocacy and engagement approach
- Maintain cross-functional coordination, strategic planning, budget adherence, compliance, customer service, and creativity
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree is required
- 8-12+ years in patient advocacy, patient engagement, patient marketing, patient services, or related pharmaceutical industry experience required
- Deep understanding of commercialization and R&D, including successful commercial product launches
- Demonstrated success navigating regulatory and legal compliance related to advocacy efforts
- Experience in rare diseases, hematology, allergy/immunology, or oncology preferred
- Experience developing and executing patient-facing disease education and awareness resources and initiatives
- Experience in patient digital health initiatives and campaigns is a plus
- Excellent organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills
- Strong executive presence and communication skills
- Ability to make sound decisions and communicate recommendations using decision-support data and regulatory considerations
- Experience working with all levels of management and consulting with key business stakeholders
- Ability to work individually, within multidisciplinary teams, and with external partners and vendors
- Ability to travel to key U.S. and global congresses and patient events as needed, up to 30%
- Role can be U.S. remote or located in Waltham, MA or Boulder, CO
