About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage a team of represented employees and maintain product flow throughout the factory
- Manage machining operations, with potential oversight of assembly or welding
- Supervise production activities to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives
- Prioritize production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply
- Control capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor
- Develop schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas
- Select, develop, and evaluate personnel
- Interpret and administer labor agreements
- Maintain records of labor activities, attendance, skills inventory, training and development, shop performance, and budgets
- Maintain compliance with safety, housekeeping, work habit, and business policies
- Ensure products are manufactured to specifications and work instructions
- Plan and coordinate work assignments in support of production plans
- Develop and implement plans to eliminate work backlog and balance workload
- Lead safety, rework reduction, throughput improvement, lean manufacturing, 6S, and quality improvement initiatives
- Define and implement individual training programs based on skills inventories
- Build teams and lead the assigned area
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum five years' experience in a manufacturing environment
- Engineering background is a plus
- Four year machinist journeyman graduate is a plus
- Knowledgeable in Master Cam and CNC Machining is a plus
- Basic computer skill with the ability to use Oracle
- Willing to work back shifts and/or weekends
- Due to DoD requirements, candidates must be US citizens
- Must be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance
- Strong machining background
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
- Ability to schedule and prioritize work based on production schedules and available resources
- Able to communicate objectives and results to those below and above
