About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop energy-saving strategies and identify energy-efficiency and emissions-reduction measures for existing buildings
  • Calculate energy and cost savings and return on investment using spreadsheets and other tools
  • Prepare preliminary cost estimates for recommended measures
  • Perform ASHRAE Level I and Level II Energy Audits
  • Support retro-commissioning of existing buildings
  • Advise clients and engineers on climate control systems, energy modeling, data logging, building automation systems, lighting/daylighting design, sustainable design, and energy auditing
  • Apply knowledge of energy-efficiency and sustainability ordinances across various cities and states
  • Evaluate commercial building HVAC systems and emerging high-performance retrofit alternatives
  • Review architectural and MEP drawings for existing buildings and systems
  • Support applications for utility and local incentives
  • Produce written technical and non-technical reports for program compliance and ownership review
  • Support project teams on client engagements and collaborate in interdisciplinary teams
  • Review project deliverables for quality, accuracy, timeliness, budget, and client needs
  • Participate in business development efforts to grow Cushman & Wakefield’s ESG practice
  • Help shape the ESG practice and perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in technical field (math, engineering, or science) or related work experience
  • At least 5-8 years of applicable work experience in a related field
  • Experience developing decarbonization strategies, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, green power procurement, renewable energy certificates (RECs), and carbon offsets, preferably in commercial real estate
  • Experience with data-driven tasks in Excel and other software platforms, including complex calculations and estimation methods
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
  • Ability to lead internal and client meetings
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and multiple projects simultaneously
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to travel up to 12 days per month
  • Preferred: Four-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited institution
  • Preferred: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Preferred: Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), or BCxP
  • Preferred: Direct experience in energy, asset, and/or portfolio management within commercial real estate
