About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team by setting priorities, assigning ownership, monitoring performance, removing obstacles, and holding the team accountable
  • Prepare, review, and approve journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, intercompany activity, and supporting schedules
  • Own and drive month-end and year-end close procedures, including close calendars, task coordination, account reviews, consolidation support, variance analysis, and financial reporting
  • Lead financial audit readiness and execution by coordinating requests, preparing audit schedules, maintaining documentation, resolving questions, and addressing deficiencies
  • Ensure daily accounting transactions are complete, accurate, timely, documented, and compliant with company policies and GAAP
  • Establish, document, and continuously improve accounting policies, workflows, controls, and service-level expectations
  • Develop and implement accounting and finance processes, automation, integrations, and reporting tools
  • Define, monitor, and communicate financial and operational drivers, trends, variances, cash flow considerations, and working-capital indicators
  • Partner with leadership and operational teams to deliver actionable insights, explain financial results, and support business decisions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of accounting operations experience
  • Demonstrated payroll processing experience across multiple jurisdictions
  • Strong understanding of general ledger, AR, AP, and reconciliation principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)
  • Experience with accounting systems such as Sage, QuickBooks, or equivalent
  • Familiarity with ERP systems
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills, with the ability to keep priorities, timelines, and stakeholders aligned
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Professional, tactful, and customer-focused communication style
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Experience with cloud-based accounting and payroll platforms (e.g., BambooHR, Sage) preferred
  • Familiarity with international payroll and corporate tax compliance preferred
  • Experience in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment preferred
  • Post-secondary coursework or certifications in accounting preferred
