About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle a challenging caseload of defendant clinical negligence work for clients including NHS Resolution, NHS Trusts, the MDU, independent healthcare providers, and medical malpractice insurers
- Draft legal documents
- Conduct face-to-face negotiations and mediation of claims
- Prepare cases for court and adhere to court deadlines
- Provide direct client care as the primary day-to-day contact
- Deliver commercially focused legal advice while adhering to client protocols and processes
- Contribute to non-fee-earning activities including knowledge sharing, training, client seminars, article writing, and business development
Requirements
What you’ll need- Solicitor/Associate with approximately 18 months PQE or more
- Experience in clinical negligence, personal injury, civil litigation, or insurance law
- Experience of an NHS Resolution or MDO panel firm desirable but not essential
- Strong technical and organisational skills
- Pragmatic and methodical approach to handling multiple clinical negligence claims simultaneously through an IT case management system
- Demonstrable ability to adopt a commercial perspective rather than an academic approach to legal issues
- Highly client focused
- Team oriented and collegiate
- Willingness to mentor, coach, and supervise less experienced team members
