About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist in the defence of professional indemnity claims, particularly financial professionals claims
- Act as a client point of contact
- Manage a caseload with supervision and support Partners on larger matters
- Conduct pre-action and litigated matters
- Assist senior fee-earners
- Advise insurers on coverage across insurance policies and issues
- Liaise directly with experts and counsel
- Run disclosure exercises and draft witness statements
- Report to insurers and work according to insurer protocols and SLAs
- Support marketing and business development, including writing articles and providing client training
- Maintain and develop technical knowledge through training, publications and exceeding Law Society CPD requirements
- Comply with DAC Beachcroft billing and credit-control protocols
- Demonstrate strong financial management on own files and when supporting others
Requirements
What you’ll need- A qualified solicitor with between 0-4 PQE will be considered
- Previous experience dealing with professional indemnity claims, especially financial professional claims, and advising on professional indemnity coverage issues is highly desirable
- An essential interest in financial professional claims and the complex, technical issues they involve, with ambition to deepen experience and knowledge toward specialising in that area
- Good numeracy and an interest in financial/money-related matters and tax
- Solid academic track record at degree and CPE and/or LPC level (or equivalent)
- Excellent relationship and client handling skills
- Ability to deal confidently and professionally with insured and insurer clients on day-to-day issues
- Reasonable self-sufficiency with awareness of boundaries of own competence/authority
- Ability to adopt a client-focused and commercial perspective, with a keen grasp of legal issues and ability to learn quickly on the job
- Change-oriented with a positive, flexible approach to new initiatives
- Team-oriented and collegiate, with willingness to share knowledge and support colleagues
- Willingness to work hard as part of an ambitious and driven team
