About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Advise procurement and business stakeholders on commercial contracting, risk management, and strategic transactions.
  • Draft, negotiate, and manage commercial agreements involving suppliers, technology providers, service providers, and strategic partners.
  • Structure transactions to protect DTNA's legal and business interests while enabling efficient business execution.
  • Drive adoption and optimization of legal technology, AI-powered solutions, contract lifecycle management systems, and knowledge management resources.
  • Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, negotiation guidance, and training materials.
  • Partner with Corporate Compliance on regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments and recommend business and policy changes.
  • Manage outside counsel and related legal resources.
  • Apply sound legal judgment, practical problem solving, and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders across North America and Germany as a trusted legal advisor.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with a state bar and ability to practice in Oregon or South Carolina as in-house counsel.
  • Eight (8) or more years of relevant legal experience supporting procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, industrial, automotive, transportation, technology, or software-driven businesses
  • Significant experience negotiating, drafting, and advising on complex commercial agreements.
  • Experience developing or implementing contract management, legal operations, process improvement, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong business judgment, practical problem-solving skills, and the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Collaborative mindset, intellectual curiosity, and a positive sense of humor.
  • Experience advising on federal procurement matters, including military or government contracts.
  • Experience preparing drafting corporate governance documentation.
  • Experience supporting strategic commercial transactions, acquisitions, joint ventures, or other corporate development initiatives.
  • Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country the position is located in at the time of application.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check.
  • May be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen.
