About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze warranty, defect, and manufacturing data to identify trends and root causes
- Support investigations into quality issues, including nonconformances and production defects
- Participate in root cause analysis using 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and Pareto Analysis
- Develop and update quality documentation, including work instructions, control plans, and PFMEAs
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams on corrective and preventive actions
- Assist with internal audits and compliance with ISO 9001 quality standards
- Support continuous improvement projects focused on reducing defects and improving process capability
- Compile reports and present findings to quality and plant leadership
- Participate in shop floor activities to understand production processes and quality checkpoints
- Support efforts to foster an inclusive and welcoming workplace culture
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field) from an accredited college/university OR have recently graduated within 1 year of the position start date (May/June)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and quality principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to interpret data and identify trends using Excel or similar tools
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and interact with cross-functional stakeholders
- Internship is open to candidates located in or willing to relocate to Grand Rapids (Kentwood), MI; Tooele, UT; Hibbing, MN; or Detroit, MI
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country the position is located in at the time of application
- Not open to Visa sponsorship or existing Visa holders
- Final candidate must successfully complete a criminal background check
- Final candidate may be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen
