About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Source high-quality parts and services globally while ensuring optimal cost and on-time delivery
- Identify innovative suppliers for captive powertrain components
- Collaborate with cross-functional business partners to optimize total cost of ownership
- Collaborate with Engineering in early product development to understand technical requirements
- Identify and validate suppliers capable of meeting design, manufacturing and material specifications
- Develop sourcing strategies and business cases considering total cost, regulatory requirements, production scenarios and supplier strategies
- Implement sourcing strategies with supplier partners
- Manage new product projects, series products, technical changes, premise changes and cost optimization initiatives
- Create contractual frameworks and implement supplier contracts
- Derive contract language with internal legal counsel and negotiate pricing, terms, quality, warranty and aftermarket agreements
- Interpret contractual obligations and resolve supplier disputes
- Lead vendor recovery initiatives involving field failures, project delays, specification non-compliance and constraint costs
- Lead cost optimization initiatives such as VAVE, de-contenting and alternative materials
- Support supplier-related topics including project deliverables, capacity planning, manufacturing efficiencies, cash flow, customs and duties, logistics and warehousing
- Drive data transparency for fact-based negotiations and cost targets
- Perform bottom-up planning for commodity and supplier-related material costs
- Derive, negotiate and implement supplier risk mitigation initiatives
- Uphold Daimler Truck values, governmental law and company policy
- Make fact-based procurement decisions and enforce fair competition
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Materials Science, Logistics, or a related technical field and 5–7 years experience in Procurement, is required
- Ability to engage in negotiation and overall alignment with suppliers and internal team
- Team player and strong collaborator
- Strong written and verbal communication
- An attached resume is required
- Automotive industry experience highly preferred
- Experience working for a global company with demonstrated ability to connect and work across cultures and regions
- Negotiation experience with global supply base
- Experience in purchasing processes, documentation, compliance and tracking
- Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States at the time of application
- Visa sponsorship is not available; existing Visa holders are not eligible
- Final candidate must successfully complete a criminal background check
- Final candidate may be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen
