About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Source high-quality parts and services globally while ensuring optimal cost and on-time delivery
  • Identify innovative suppliers for captive powertrain components
  • Collaborate with cross-functional business partners to optimize total cost of ownership
  • Collaborate with Engineering during early product development to understand technical requirements
  • Identify, develop and validate capable supplier partners
  • Develop sourcing strategies, business cases and sourcing recommendations
  • Implement sourcing strategies with supplier partners for new product, series product, technical change, premise change and cost optimization initiatives
  • Derive contract language with internal legal counsel oversight and support
  • Negotiate supplier contracts, pricing, terms and conditions, long-term agreements, quality, warranty and aftermarket agreements
  • Interpret contractual obligations and remedies and manage supplier disputes to resolution
  • Lead vendor recovery initiatives involving field failures, project delays, technical non-compliance and constraint costs
  • Lead cost optimization initiatives including VAVE, de-contenting and alternative materials
  • Support supplier-related topics including project deliverables, volume and capacity planning, manufacturing efficiencies, cash flow optimization, import customs and duties compliance, logistics, warehousing and contractual obligations
  • Drive data transparency for fact-based negotiations and cost targets
  • Perform bottom-up planning for commodity and supplier-related material costs
  • Derive, negotiate and implement risk mitigation initiatives
  • Uphold Daimler Truck values, governmental law and company policy
  • Make fact-based and unbiased procurement decisions and enforce free and fair competition

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Materials Science, Logistics, or a related technical field is required
  • 5–7 years experience in Procurement
  • Ability to engage in negotiation and overall alignment with suppliers and internal team
  • Team player and strong collaborator
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Attached resume is required
  • Automotive industry experience highly preferred
  • Experience working for a global company with demonstrated ability to connect and work across cultures and regions
  • Negotiation experience with global supply base
  • Experience in purchasing processes, documentation, compliance and tracking
  • Legally authorized to work permanently in the United States at the time of application
  • No visa sponsorship or existing visa holders
  • Successful criminal background check
  • May be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen
