About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead a group of automotive suppliers in providing quality powertrain components in sufficient capacity
  • Work with suppliers to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and corrective actions are implemented
  • Manage timely resolution of supplier technical issues to ensure uninterrupted supply to production
  • Lead supplier performance improvement projects to increase supplier capability
  • Document investigation, disposition, and resolution activities for quality complaints
  • Conduct supplier audits to confirm product conformity and drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement
  • Monitor, communicate, and improve supplier quality KPIs, including DPPM, quality complaints, and capacity supporting OTS compliance
  • Lead or support establishment of short- and long-term supplier quality goals
  • Champion problem solving and root cause analysis with suppliers and customers
  • Interface with and support cross-functional business units on supplier quality topics
  • Oversee supplier containment actions to mitigate quality issues
  • Travel domestically and internationally, expected 30-50%
  • Report to the responsible Supplier Management Quality Team Leader

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related
  • 1-3 year of related experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to present complex technical topics during meetings with suppliers and Daimler management
  • Knowledge of GD&T and MSA
  • Ability to understand metallurgical requirements and interpret reports
  • Strong problem solving skills and a solution-focused mindset
  • Understanding of quality problem solving tools such as 8D, 5-why, fishbone, etc.
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to understand and address customer needs and expectations related to supplier quality topics
  • Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country the position is located in at the time of application
  • Final candidate must successfully complete a criminal background check
  • Final candidate may be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen
