About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partner with Procurement, Engineering, and Operations to anticipate and identify supply-base gaps
  • Work ahead of quoting and awards to develop quality suppliers capable of OEM-level production
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing engineering to ensure optimal manufacturing processes
  • Develop the supplier base for overall cost, quality, manufacturability, and operational self-reliance
  • Develop, execute, and modify project strategies for critical parts based on risk ranking
  • Work with suppliers on project schedules to achieve vehicle milestones and KPIs
  • Lead suppliers in problem solving and consensus building to mitigate risks
  • Establish manufacturing processes covering critical characteristics and parameter controls
  • Collaborate on the Long Range Production Plan and supplier volume/mix capability
  • Grow and develop a team of experts on DTNA requirements, manufacturing processes, and supplier quality
  • Lead, exhibit, and coach to Daimler Great Leadership Behaviors
  • Understand the DTNA Product Roadmap, PAR initiatives, and global supply-base trends
  • Derive action plans using the current supply base or identify new suppliers
  • Identify, audit, onboard, surveil, and diagnose incumbent and new suppliers
  • Industrialize new materials and processes, including required capital improvements and technology scale-up
  • Collaborate with Design, Quality, and Manufacturing on performance specifications and supplier metrics
  • Maintain global relationships to leverage expertise and evaluate shared suppliers
  • Drive projects, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction in the supply base
  • Maintain and communicate status information supporting project KPI visualization

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or similar technical field
  • 4+ years of supplier management, procurement, supply chain, or changeover experience
  • 4+ years of supplier quality experience
  • Experience with quality system audits, PPAP, root cause and corrective actions at suppliers
  • Experience with statistical process control and capacity management verification by run at rate
  • Process knowledge and tooling across die and sand cast, forgings, stamping, welding, injection mold, machining, heat treatment, electronics soldering, sewing, cab and chassis components, and mechatronics
  • Knowledge of aluminum, iron, steel, resins, paint, and rubber
  • Expertise in reading drawings/prints, including ability to discuss Basic GD&T
  • Expertise in DTNA Book of Business and Supplier Requirements, CVDS
  • Negotiation skills, structured problem solving, and project management experience
  • Manufacturing, Quality, or Engineering experience developing listed commodities/products
  • Capabilities with MS365
  • Executive presentation skills
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, including international travel
  • Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States at the time of application
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check
  • May be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen
