About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Derive high-level functional requirements from use cases
  • Lead development and governance of Abstract Effect Chain (AEC) foundational system design artifacts
  • Review feature Use Cases and provide technical guidance and feedback to Feature Owners
  • Create and maintain initial AEC structures and parts, define impacted systems, and govern the AEC part library
  • Transition completed AECs to Feature Owners for downstream Systems Engineering activities
  • Support Feature Owners and System Owners during Milestone 0 and Milestone 1
  • Drive and document system allocation change requests and facilitate agreement with AEC Owners and System Owners
  • Manage intake and assessment of Customer Value Criteria and Legal / Regulatory Requirements
  • Allocate functional requirements to appropriate systems
  • Collaborate with global Systems Designers to manage and evolve the Daimler Truck system architecture portfolio
  • Identify needs for new system creation and propose updates to the Daimler Truck Systems portfolio
  • Review, maintain, and improve system boundaries and scope definitions
  • Communicate and promote system landscape visibility across the global organization
  • Assist with continuous improvement of systems engineering processes, methods, and tools
  • Lead team or department projects or work streams within broader projects when needed
  • Advise management and key external stakeholders on job field-related projects
  • Contribute to standards in which others will operate

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Requires a Bachelors Degree in Engineering with 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in the automotive organization and the general V-model process and how it is used in the product lifecycle from end to end
  • Analytical thought to solve complex problems with minimal guidance and identify solutions independently
  • Understanding of the Daimler Truck product portfolio
  • Basic knowledge of function based systems approach
  • Understanding of top-level general vehicle and legal requirements
  • Understanding of complex development processes, e.g., V-model
  • Ability to model abstract effect chains or similar System Design models
  • Ability to moderate critical situations / conflicting goals of system owners and component owners
  • Strong cross-functional communication and ownership mindset
  • Ability to abstract between logical and physical implementation
  • Experience with DOORS Next Gen or similar requirements management tool and JIRA driven environments
  • Legally authorized to work permanently in the United States at the time of application
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check
  • May be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen
  • Not open to Visa sponsorship or existing Visa holders
