About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead vehicle concept studies, concept generation, evaluation and selection throughout the product life cycle
  • Generate concepts for meeting Customer Value Criteria and program targets
  • Lead and perform feasibility studies for new vehicles, concepts and packages
  • Evaluate concepts for key impacts, risks and achievement of targets
  • Drive alignment on optimal concept selection
  • Document selected concepts for efficient Gate 9 activities
  • Serve as focal point for stakeholder concept ideas and align them toward assessment and vehicle implementation
  • Facilitate alignment and sign-off of vehicle studies and concepts between Engineering, Product Strategy and other stakeholders
  • Develop and assess concepts to achieve derived technical parameters, including analysis, packaging and functional requirements
  • Monitor state-of-the-art developments in the trucking industry and competitor landscape, applying new knowledge to vehicle concept development
  • Develop and implement improvements to the concept development process

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering or related field and 5-7 years of relevant experience in commercial vehicle engineering, is required
  • Experience with 3D CAD tool Siemens NX or Teamcenter Visualization and vehicle packaging
  • Experience leading projects required
  • Solid understanding of vehicle-level development using CVDS
  • Demonstrated ability to turn customer needs into technical solutions
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • An attached resume is required
  • Deep understanding of major truck systems and their interactions
  • Advanced degree in Engineering or Business
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new technical topics
  • Ability to use sound engineering decision making in an ambiguous environment
  • Global project experience
  • Proficiency with Data visualization and analytics tools
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States at the time of application, except current Daimler Truck North America employees working under an existing U.S. Daimler Truck North America visa
  • Final candidate must successfully complete a criminal background check
  • Final candidate may be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen
