About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Handle filings for domestic and international clients
  • Carry out administrative procedures before the Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), from filing through grant
  • Monitor administrative patent proceedings, including PCT and Paris Convention matters, utility models, and certificates of addition before the INPI and partner international offices
  • Prepare, file, and monitor deadlines related to filings, office actions, annuities, examination requests, appeals, and other formal procedures
  • Manage and update internal systems and tracking spreadsheets
  • Interact with clients and foreign associates to obtain and provide documents, information, and updates
  • Support the technical and legal teams in preparing status reports, portfolio analyses, and performance indicator reports
  • Review technical and legal documents, ensuring compliance with internal standards and INPI requirements
  • Support internal and external audits and assist in organizing and archiving industrial property case files
  • Collaborate with the finance, compliance, technology, and litigation teams on cross-functional activities and process improvements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent higher education qualification
  • At least 2 years of prior experience with administrative and procedural patent matters
  • Experience with PCT and Paris Convention proceedings and interactions with foreign associates
  • Practical knowledge of INPI regulations and procedures
  • Fluent English, including reading and communication with foreign associates
  • Strong written communication and organizational skills
  • Teamwork skills
  • Ability to meet urgent deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple demands and simultaneous deadlines
  • Participation in process improvement or automation projects is a plus
