About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Administer and support Azure databases (Azure SQL, Managed Instance) and SQL Server running on VMs.
  • Monitor production environments and respond to incidents, including analysis, mitigation, and resolution.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues, replication problems, and outages.
  • Execute production changes through the GMUD change-management process and support rollback and contingency procedures.
  • Tune queries and indexes; ensure valid backups and successful restores.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and stability improvement initiatives.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience as a mid-level DBA, preferably in operations and production support.
  • Strong command of SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and backup/restore.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, including Azure SQL Database and/or SQL Managed Instance.
  • Experience with monitoring, backup/restore, and incident troubleshooting.
  • Strong SQL skills and familiarity with automation using Shell Script, Python, or similar tools.
  • Availability for on-call rotations.
  • AWS (RDS, Aurora) and familiarity with multicloud environments are considered a plus.
  • Knowledge of Oracle, MySQL/PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and DynamoDB is considered a plus.
  • Knowledge of observability tools (Grafana, Datadog, Dynatrace), ITSM, Terraform, and SRE concepts is considered a plus.
