About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with Company and Facility policies and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality and security with all privileged information
- Maintain working knowledge of Company and facility software
- Adhere to Company and customer facility codes of conduct and policies
- Inform manager of work, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes
- Manage patient health records and safeguard them in compliance with HIPAA standards
- Prepare new patient charts using paper sources and/or electronic health records
- Assemble medical records in standard order and ensure accuracy and completeness
- Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical records
- Retrieve and appropriately transmit patient records to internal and external requesters
- Answer inbound and outbound calls
- Assist patient walk-ins and administrative duties including faxes, mail, and data entry
- Schedule pickups as needed
- Assist with training associates and new hires
- Generate reports for the manager or facility
- Meet productivity expectations
- Participate in project teams and committees advancing operational strategies and initiatives
- Act in a lead role by answering staff questions and supporting training
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Able to travel local/regionally 75% or more of the time
- Ability to commute between locations as needed
- Able to work overtime during peak seasons when required
- 1-year Health Information related experience
- Meets and/or exceeds Company's Productivity Standards
- Basic computer proficiency
- Comfortable utilizing phones, fax machine, printers, and other general office equipment on a regular basis
- Professional verbal and written communication skills in the English language
- Detail and quality oriented as it relates to accurate and compliant information for medical records
- Strong data entry skills
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision responding to changing priorities and role needs
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
- Able to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment
