About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Receive and process requests for patient health information according to company and facility policies
- Maintain confidentiality, security, and HIPAA compliance for privileged patient information
- Maintain working knowledge of company and facility software
- Adhere to company and customer facility codes of conduct and policies
- Inform the manager about work, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes
- Manage patient health records and safeguard patient records
- Prepare new patient charts using paper sources and/or electronic health records
- Assemble medical records in standard order and ensure accuracy and completeness
- Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical records
- Retrieve and appropriately transmit patient records to internal and external requesters
- Answer inbound and outbound calls
- Assist with patient walk-ins and administrative duties, including faxes, mail, and data entry
- Meet site-specific productivity expectations
- Schedule pickups as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to commute between locations as needed
- Able to work overtime during peak seasons when required
- Basic computer proficiency
- Comfortable utilizing phones, fax machine, printers, and other general office equipment on a regular basis
- Professional verbal and written communication skills in the English language
- Detail and quality oriented as it relates to accurate and compliant information for medical records
- Strong data entry skills
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision responding to changing priorities and role needs
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
- Able to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment
- Strong customer service and clerical skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
- Comfortable working in a high-volume production environment
- Medical office experience preferred
- Experience in a healthcare environment
- Previous production/metric-based work experience
- In-person customer service experience
- Ability to build relationships with on-site clients and customers
- Comfortable bringing new ideas, process improvement suggestions, and feedback to internal stakeholders
