About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Process release-of-information requests, especially medical record requests, accurately and efficiently
- Receive and process requests for patient health information according to company and facility policies
- Maintain confidentiality, security, and HIPAA compliance for privileged patient information
- Manage patient health records and safeguard patient records
- Prepare new patient charts using paper and electronic health record sources
- Assemble medical records in standard order and ensure they are accurate and complete
- Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical records
- Retrieve and appropriately transmit patient records to internal and external requesters
- Answer inbound and outbound calls from patients, insurance companies, and attorneys
- Document information across multiple platforms using two computer monitors
- Handle administrative duties such as faxes, mail, data entry, and scheduling pickups
- Maintain knowledge of company and facility software
- Meet site-specific productivity expectations
- Inform the manager about work, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes
- Assist with patient walk-ins and additional duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to commute between locations as needed
- Able to work overtime during peak seasons when required
- Basic computer proficiency
- Comfortable utilizing phones, fax machine, printers, and other general office equipment regularly
- Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
- Detail and quality oriented for accurate and compliant medical records
- Strong data entry skills
- Able to work with minimum supervision and respond to changing priorities and role needs
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
- Able to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment
- This job is not eligible for employment sponsorship
- Post-offer health screenings and proof and/or completion of vaccinations may be required
- Bonus: experience in a healthcare environment
