About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Process all release of information, specifically medical record requests, in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ensure accuracy and provide customers with high-quality products and customer service
  • Safeguard patient privacy and ensure releases comply with requests, authorizations, company policy, and HIPAA regulations
  • Receive and process requests for patient health information according to company and facility policies
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of privileged information
  • Maintain working knowledge of company and facility software
  • Adhere to company and customer facility codes of conduct and policies
  • Inform manager of work, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes
  • Manage patient health records and ensure compliance with HIPAA standards
  • Prepare new patient charts and gather documents from paper sources and/or electronic health records
  • Assemble medical records in standard order and ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical records
  • Retrieve and appropriately transmit patient records to internal and external requesters
  • Answer inbound and outbound calls and provide medical-record status updates
  • Assist with patient walk-ins and administrative duties such as handling faxes, opening mail, and data entry
  • Meet site productivity expectations
  • Schedule pickups as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to commute between locations as needed
  • Able to work overtime during peak seasons when required
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Comfortable utilizing phones, fax machine, printers, and other general office equipment on a regular basis
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills in the English language
  • This job is not eligible for employment sponsorship
  • Preferred customer service, data entry, and release of information experience
  • Bonus points for experience in a healthcare environment
  • Bonus points for previous production/metric-based work experience
  • Bonus points for in-person customer service experience
