About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work Monday through Friday, with eight-hour shifts scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. ET
- Process billing records requests in compliance with HIPAA regulations, release-of-information standards, and client-specific requirements
- Receive and process requests for patient health information according to company and facility policies
- Maintain confidentiality and security of privileged information
- Maintain working knowledge of company and facility software
- Adhere to company and customer facility codes of conduct and policies
- Inform manager of work, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes
- Assist with additional duties and responsibilities as required
- Apply medical privacy regulations consistently to prevent unauthorized disclosure
- Manage and safeguard patient health records and ensure HIPAA compliance
- Prepare new patient charts using paper sources and/or electronic health records
- Assemble medical records in standard order and ensure accuracy and completeness
- Create digital images of paperwork for storage in electronic medical records
- Retrieve and appropriately transmit patient records to internal and external requesters
- Answer inbound and outbound calls
- Assist with patient walk-ins
- Handle faxes, open mail, perform data entry, and schedule pickups as needed
- Meet site-specific productivity expectations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to commute between locations as needed
- Able to work overtime during peak seasons when required
- Basic computer proficiency
- Comfortable utilizing phones, fax machine, printers, and other general office equipment on a regular basis
- Professional verbal and written communication skills in the English language
