About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Process release-of-information requests and medical record requests accurately and efficiently
- Take inbound and outbound calls from patients, insurance companies, and attorneys
- Provide medical-record request status information
- Document information across multiple platforms using two computer monitors
- Maintain confidentiality and security of privileged information
- Apply medical privacy regulations and safeguard against unauthorized disclosure
- Manage, safeguard, and maintain patient health records in compliance with HIPAA standards
- Prepare new patient charts using paper and electronic health-record sources
- Assemble medical records in standard order and verify accuracy and completeness
- Create digital images of paperwork for storage in electronic medical records
- Retrieve and appropriately transmit patient records to internal and external requesters
- Assist with patient walk-ins and administrative duties such as faxes, mail, and data entry
- Inform the manager about work, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes
- Meet site-specific productivity expectations
- Schedule pickups as needed
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to commute between locations as needed
- Able to work overtime during peak seasons when required
- Basic computer proficiency
- Comfortable utilizing phones, fax machine, printers, and other general office equipment
- Professional verbal and written communication skills in the English language
- Detail and quality oriented regarding accurate and compliant medical-record information
- Strong data entry skills
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and respond to changing priorities
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment
- Not eligible for employment sponsorship
- Experience in a healthcare environment (bonus)
- Previous production/metric-based work experience (bonus)
- In-person customer service experience (bonus)
- Ability to build relationships with on-site clients and customers (bonus)
- Ability to bring process-improvement suggestions and feedback to internal stakeholders (bonus)
