About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Process release-of-information requests and medical record requests accurately and efficiently
  • Take calls from patients, insurance companies, and attorneys regarding medical record status
  • Receive and process patient health information according to company and facility policies
  • Maintain confidentiality, security, and compliance with HIPAA and medical privacy regulations
  • Maintain working knowledge of company and facility software
  • Inform the manager about work, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes
  • Manage patient health records and safeguard patient records
  • Prepare new patient charts using paper and electronic health record sources
  • Assemble medical records in standard order and ensure they are accurate and complete
  • Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical records
  • Retrieve and transmit patient records to internal and external requesters
  • Answer inbound and outbound calls
  • Assist with patient walk-ins and administrative duties such as faxes, mail, and data entry
  • Meet site-specific productivity expectations
  • Schedule pickups as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to commute between locations as needed
  • Able to work overtime during peak seasons when required
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
  • Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and other general office equipment
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong data entry skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and respond to changing priorities
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to respond to requests in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in a healthcare environment is a bonus
  • Previous production/metric-based work experience is a bonus
  • In-person customer service experience is a bonus
