About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead, develop, and retain a distributed team of senior and staff-level SREs across US, Ireland, and Spain time zones
Own the Operational Intake & Acceptance process
Drive automation and shift-left initiatives with the Cloud Platform Tools team
Manage IaC/Terraform workspace hygiene, VDI/end-user compute, monitoring and alerting upkeep, cloud cost management and rightsizing, and SRE-tier client and application support
Establish and track KTLO percentage reduction metrics
Build and maintain a reproducible, auditable, and automatable playbook library
Define and enforce operational intake criteria and protect the team from misrouted tickets
Partner with Cloud Platform Infrastructure, Services, eSRE, and Tools leadership on ownership boundaries and cross-cutting work
Serve as the operational escalation point for platform-layer issues, including production access, SSL certificate management, and system-state remediation
Datavant provides a data collaboration platform for healthcare organizations, including providers, health plans, researchers, and life sciences companies

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of engineering management experience, including managing distributed or international teams across multiple time zones
Strong technical foundation in cloud infrastructure operations
Knowledge of Terraform/IaC, including infrastructure state, module versioning, and workspace hygiene at scale
Solid Kubernetes operational knowledge (EKS and/or AKS), including cluster health, workload troubleshooting, and node management
AWS experience required; Azure experience a strong plus
Hands-on experience with observability platforms; Datadog preferred
Ability to build runbooks, SLAs, intake processes, escalation paths, and shift-left frameworks
Clear communication skills for defining scope boundaries and managing cross-team expectations
Comfort with ambiguity in a newly formed team
