Key responsibilities & impact

Lead delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performing Shopify solutions, including themes, custom apps, and API integrations
Remain actively involved in Shopify development using Liquid, Online Store 2.0, app development, integrations, and third-party APIs
Champion code quality, security, performance, documentation, and maintainability standards
Mentor and coach developers through pairing, code reviews, feedback, and knowledge sharing
Guide technical direction, estimation, release planning, risk management, and delivery readiness with Architects and Project Managers
Lead adoption of AI coding agents and emerging technologies with appropriate workflows, guardrails, and quality controls
Advise clients on their Shopify ecosystem, platform capabilities, technical trade-offs, integrations, and eCommerce solutions
Contribute to eCommerce strategies and roadmaps using data, research, competitive insights, and Shopify best practices
Lead or contribute to client workshops, proposals, discovery, and pre-sales activities
Connect technical recommendations to measurable outcomes such as conversion, revenue, AOV, retention, and customer experience
Translate business requirements into user stories and support backlog management
Participate in Agile ceremonies and align business objectives with technical execution
Balance client needs, technical constraints, platform capabilities, and eCommerce opportunities

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years of experience in software development
Significant hands-on experience building and scaling Shopify or comparable eCommerce solutions
Deep expertise in Shopify, Liquid, Online Store 2.0, Shopify APIs (Admin API, Storefront API, Shopify Functions), and custom app development or integrations
Shopify Plus experience is a strong asset
Proven experience leading, mentoring, or supervising developers
Strong understanding of eCommerce strategy, data-driven decision-making, KPI development, conversion optimization, customer experience, and digital roadmaps
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to advise technical and business stakeholders and lead strategic workshops
Familiarity with Product Owner practices, including requirements gathering, user stories, backlog management, prioritization, and Agile delivery
Working knowledge of PIM, DAM, ERP, CDP, search and merchandising, and review platforms
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory
French is an asset
Hands-on experience with AI coding agents and agentic development workflows, or strong willingness and ability to rapidly adopt emerging AI tools and technologies
Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, autonomy, organization, and prioritization ability
Agency or client-services experience is a strong asset
Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments
Experience with BigCommerce, Adobe Commerce, Contentful, Sanity, or Storyblok is an asset
