About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Adjust liability claims involving Commercial General Liability, Auto Bodily Injury, and Personal Lines liability
  • Promptly contact and follow up with policyholders and claimants
  • Investigate claim causes and report timely recommendations to clients
  • Identify exposures and recommend reserves and required investigations
  • Prepare action plans and negotiate fair and satisfactory settlements
  • Provide high-level customer service to clients and insureds throughout the claims process
  • Participate in after-hours customer service requirements when required
  • Perform assigned duties in compliance with established work standards, policies, and procedures
  • Maximize business development opportunities through marketing and timely follow-up
  • Support field requests within the Markham area

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Completion of high school education
  • University degree or post-secondary education related to insurance preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, OneDrive)
  • At least 5 years' relevant experience in claims adjusting
  • Field experience is an asset
  • Ongoing commitment to education and learning
  • Adjuster’s license, or currently pursuing CIP designation
  • Ontario licensing is required
  • Multijurisdictional licensing is an asset
  • Effective analytical skills, including identification of cause-and-effect dynamics
  • Ability to draw valid conclusions and effectively communicate them
  • Ability to interpret complex legal documents
  • Ability to perform and understand advanced numerical calculations, including comparative information analysis
  • Excellent communication, listening, interviewing, and negotiating skills
  • Ability to flex communication style appropriately to the audience
  • Proactive and positive customer service approach
  • Strong interpersonal skills for handling conflict and difficult situations
