About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the strategic planning, design, and execution of firmwide attorney training initiatives
  • Ensure firmwide compliance with applicable Continuing Legal Education regulations
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of attorney training programs covering legal, people, business, and firm citizenship skills
  • Manage daily operations of the CLE and attorney training teams
  • Oversee attorney training, bar dues, and CLE budgets
  • Manage in-person and virtual workshops and training programs
  • Assist with training programs at firm and practice group retreats
  • Consult with practice group leaders and partners to design targeted curricula for associates, counsel, and partners
  • Collaborate with talent acquisition, marketing, business development, practice management, DEI, pro bono and social impact, and IT teams
  • Research and recommend outside consultants
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices in attorney training
  • Evaluate training effectiveness using feedback, data analysis, and KPIs
  • Oversee internal e-learning content and external CLE partnerships
  • Manage firm and attorney compliance with MCLE requirements across relevant U.S. jurisdictions
  • Track and manage firm payment of mandatory state bar dues in participating jurisdictions
  • Supervise CLE tracking, reporting, and accredited-provider audit preparation
  • Maintain provider accreditation status and manage CLE accreditation for in-house, live, on-demand, and third-party programs
  • Provide CLE status reports to firm leadership and communicate deadlines and requirements to attorneys

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8+ years of experience in attorney professional development, including at least 3 years in a managerial or senior role
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • JD or advanced degree in adult learning or organizational development preferred
  • Proven ability to design and manage sophisticated training programs in a law firm setting
  • Expertise in CLE rules, accreditation, and tracking tools
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work with professionals throughout an organization, including partners, associates/counsel, marketing, business development, practice management, support staff, and IT/KM
  • High level of discretion, organization, and responsiveness
  • Self-motivated, able to assume responsibility and work autonomously and ethically in a professional manner
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CLE/LMS systems
