About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Analyze, prepare, and file assigned Sales & Use Tax returns and other reporting requirements
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals
  • Oversee resolution of tax notices and ensure timely follow-up and issue escalation
  • Support indirect tax projects involving Voluntary Disclosure Agreements, sales and use tax audits, nexus reviews, account registrations and closures, taxability research, notice resolution, and compliance or remediation projects
  • Assist with property tax reporting by preparing supporting schedules
  • Compile and maintain documentation for property tax filings, including inventory and tangible personal property details by state
  • Support annual tax accruals and account reconciliations
  • Assist during tax audits by gathering documentation, preparing responses, and supporting the audit lead
  • Develop working relationships with other functional areas
  • Prepare business license filings and coordinate with statutory agents
  • Assist with computations for miscellaneous tax filings, including gross receipts taxes and commercial activity taxes
  • Maintain the tax calendar and departmental tracking documents
  • Refine Standard Operating Procedures and lead automation and reporting initiatives using Vertex, Alteryx, and OneStream
  • Assist with training junior team members and strengthening tax operational effectiveness
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
  • Minimum 3+ years of indirect tax experience and/or equivalent public accounting experience required
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products, including Excel
  • Proven attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with individuals at all organizational levels
  • Familiarity with JDE (JD Edwards), NetSuite or another major ERP system is a plus
  • Experience with Vertex (O-Series or Vertex Cloud), including maintaining tax rates, exemption certificates, jurisdictional settings, return preparation, system testing, reporting validation, and resolving tax engine issues
  • Proven track record of success in a fast-paced environment
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening before beginning work
