About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direction for innovative electrification system hardware solutions
- Oversee design, development, and testing of EAxle/generator systems, inverters, power electronics, and related components
- Integrate EAxle/REEV generator components into overall vehicle architecture
- Explore new design concepts, materials, and manufacturing techniques
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members
- Apply root cause analysis, design of experiments, and FMEA to resolve technical issues
- Plan future xEV systems and component development while evaluating vehicle-level trade-offs
- Address thermal management, efficiency optimization, noise reduction, compatibility, and performance challenges
- Improve efficiency, power output, and range while reducing component and manufacturing costs
- Coordinate component design, integration, and testing with North American and global teams
- Present technical updates to North American leadership and drive technical consensus
- Discuss timelines, resources, and risks with project managers
- Collaborate with cooling, mechanical interface, and globally located teams
- Interact with OEM customers and Tier 1 suppliers
- Discuss component specifications, quality, and delivery timelines
- Monitor industry trends, technologies, and regulations
- Travel globally to affiliates, customers, suppliers, and conferences as necessary
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related area required; Master's degree preferred
- 10+ years of relevant or related experience in electrical hardware systems required
- Deep understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering, power electronics, motors, mechanical systems, EAxle components, and their interactions
- Ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex technical challenges related to EAxle system design, integration, and performance
- Proficiency in designing and developing EAxle systems, including component selection, system integration, and testing
- Ability to manage EAxle/generator development projects effectively, on time, within budget, and to required quality standards
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of electrified powertrain systems, power electronics, high-voltage architectures, and energy management systems
- Ability to integrate electrical, mechanical, thermal, EMC/EMI, and functional safety requirements across complex system architectures
- Ability to lead cross-functional engineering efforts and influence technical direction without formal supervisory authority
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to engineering teams, management, customers, and suppliers
