About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the EMEA Commercial Legal agenda and serve as principal legal adviser to regional leadership
- Partner with EMEA leaders on business strategy and significant commercial and operational decisions
- Advise EMEA leadership and country teams
- Support growth, go-to-market and distribution models, market entry, product launches, pricing, promotions, strategic accounts and business transformation
- Lead legal support for material regional contracts, including distribution and dealer arrangements, public tenders, strategic accounts, services, software and digital solutions, and partnerships with dental professionals and institutions
- Identify and assess material legal risks across EMEA
- Collaborate with Regulatory, Compliance and Ethics, Privacy, Intellectual Property, Operations Legal, Employment, Tax and Corporate Legal teams
- Oversee significant EMEA commercial disputes and administrative matters, including strategy, outside counsel, financial exposure and reporting
- Lead, coach and develop the geographically dispersed EMEA legal team
- Manage high-volume, fast-moving matters while maintaining quality, responsiveness and appropriate escalation
- Contribute EMEA insight to global Commercial Legal priorities and common standards
- Advise Procurement and business teams on purchasing, supply and service agreements, including drafting, negotiation and contractual risks
- Independently assess complex legal, commercial and operational risks
- Provide recommendations, practical alternatives, constructive challenge and determine when specialist input or escalation is required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Law degree and qualification to practice in an EMEA jurisdiction or equivalent professional standing
- 15 or more years of relevant legal experience, including substantial in-house work and multi-country EMEA responsibility
- Experience leading lawyers and complex cross-border legal work
- Experience developing talent and working effectively across different cultures, time zones and reporting lines
- Strong record advising international sales organizations and negotiating complex commercial agreements
- Ability to translate legal issues into practical choices, explain risk in business terms and challenge constructively
- Familiarity with digital products, distribution networks, public procurement and interactions with healthcare professionals is valuable
- Experience in medical devices, healthcare or another regulated EMEA business is preferred
- Fluent professional English is required
- German is highly valued
- Proficiency in additional EMEA languages is an advantage
- Must be eligible to work in the country the position is based
