About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Take database implementation projects through the entire development life cycle
Lead solution architecture, solution design, development, testing, and deployment
Serve as technical subject matter expert for client solutions
Lead pre-sales technical engagements, workshops, architecture reviews, assessments, and proofs of concept
Develop business cases and proposal content quantifying data platform and Databricks initiative value
Build relationships with technical decision-makers and provide technical counsel
Contribute to RFP responses and competitive positioning
Own technical relationships with client data leadership and engineering teams
Deliver or lead complex Databricks-based data transformation programs
Collaborate with Solutions Architects to validate and refine technical designs
Make technical decisions on architecture, platform configuration, data modeling, and tooling
Design reusable Databricks implementations, reference architectures, and accelerators
Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical assessments
Surface data quality issues, integration risks, and scope or schedule impacts
Mentor and lead engineers and contribute to team capability development
Maintain Databricks expertise and advise clients on product roadmap and emerging capabilities
Evaluate adjacent data platform tooling, cloud platforms, orchestration, and consumption patterns
Contribute to certifications, thought leadership, knowledge management, playbooks, and best-practice guides
Lead technical discovery workshops with C-suite and director-level stakeholders
Explain complex architecture and data engineering decisions to non-technical audiences
Produce thought leadership and advisory content
Represent the firm in client forums, advisory boards, and steering committees
Use AI tools to accelerate delivery and documentation

Requirements

What you’ll need

8+ years building data platform implementations on cloud data warehouses
At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Databricks
Experience with Databricks SQL, Python, DLT, Unity Catalog, or equivalent scope
Advanced SQL and Python; ability to code production-quality data pipelines without oversight
Deep experience with relational and lakehouse data modeling
Experience designing Customer 360 and conformed data models
Experience participating in and leading complex, multi-phase delivery programs
Exceptional client-facing communication skills with C-suite and technical audiences
Ability to build credibility and trust with technical and business stakeholders
Experience with data observability, pipeline automation, and formal change control in production environments
Regular use of AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code
Active use of AWS, GCP, or Azure and working knowledge of cloud data architecture
Databricks Certified Data Engineer (Professional level) or Databricks Solutions Architect Certification strongly preferred
Active Databricks thought leadership strongly preferred
Experience with Databricks AI capabilities, enterprise-scale governance and Unity Catalog, modern orchestration, pre-sales/discovery, adjacent platforms, and mentoring strongly preferred
