About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain the integrity of client financial data and link it to operational and financial systems for appropriate revenue recognition
- Ensure client contract assurance complies with the service line compliance framework and dentsu policies
- Review Statements of Work and determine proper revenue recognition criteria
- Escalate evident revenue-recognition risks to the Director of Revenue Accounting
- Ensure revenue recognition complies with contractual terms and IFRS 15
- Assess Statements of Work and POs for compliance and potential risks
- Ensure Statements of Work and POs are agreed and signed before work begins
- Fulfil information requests for internal, external financial, and client audits
- Create and update monthly revenue recognition schedules for portfolio clients
- Collaborate with Commercial Finance, Client Teams, and FP&A on revenue forecasting
- Build relationships with Client Teams and understand service offerings and deliverables
- Ensure appropriate period-end revenue recognition and review and approval of accruals
- Review month-end variances to forecasted revenue and provide detailed explanations
- Perform month-end tasks to verify client revenue and review accrued and deferred income balance sheet accounts
- Supply Commercial Finance with information for forecasting
- Maintain a robust audit trail for revenue accounting and reporting
- Participate in month-end close review meetings with Commercial Finance and Financial Control
- Drive continuous improvements in revenue reporting processes
- Analyze and report changes to revenue and revenue-related balance sheet lines and manage identified risks
- Liaise with Operations to ensure accurate client invoicing
- Assist with reviewing unbilled amounts with Operational Finance and Client Teams
- Report to the Manager of Revenue Accounting and work closely with Commercial Finance, Financial Control, Operational Finance, and Client Services teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- 1-2 years of experience in a similar finance/accounting role
- Knowledge of D365, MediaOcean, Nexelus or similar client job costing/media booking and accounting platforms
- Excellent IT skills and experience using the Microsoft D365 accounting system desirable
- Strong Microsoft Excel and system skills
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple, conflicting deadlines under pressure
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and change
- Problem-solving mindset and strong work ethic
- Strong team-player skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across a wide range of stakeholders
- Relationship-building and influencing collaborative outcomes
- Drive for continuous improvement and performance excellence
- Ability to educate and instil awareness across the business on revenue recognition principles
- Understanding of different kinds of revenue streams
