About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Register and check in patients for outpatient services
- Confirm patient identity using approved identification processes
- Create and maintain encounters in the electronic health record
- Collect, verify, and update demographic, guarantor, and insurance information
- Explain co-pays, deductibles, deposits, and self-pay responsibilities
- Collect payments at the time of service
- Connect patients with financial counseling or enrollment services
- Collaborate with clinic leadership, providers, nursing, scheduling, and ancillary departments
- Support clinic flow, timely patient access, same-day add-ons, walk-ins, and schedule changes
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits using electronic tools and payer portals
- Identify coverage limitations, referral or authorization requirements, and self-pay situations
- Resolve coverage issues with Insurance Verification, Pre-Service, and Authorization teams
- Meet productivity, quality, registration accuracy, and financial collection standards
- Participate in audits and quality/process improvement initiatives
- Provide flexible coverage across departments and clinics
- Follow FQHC, HRSA, EMTALA, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements
- Train and support new hires and answer questions
Requirements
What you’ll need- No high school diploma and/or GED required
- No experience required
- Organization and attention to detail
- Effective communication
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to prioritize workflow and determine priority
- Ability to follow Denver Health guidelines and policies
- Ability to multitask and handle a high volume of tasks
- Ability to enter data quickly and accurately
- Ability to complete daily work by the end of the shift
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team
- Ability to type 25 wpm
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with Epic
