About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform technical tasks within the pharmacy department of the Health Plan under general supervision of the pharmacy technician supervisor
- Answer inbound phone calls
- Make outbound phone calls
- Process faxed, electronic, or verbal prior authorizations
- Perform basic computer system operations
- Work competently in different areas of pharmacy practice
- Apply call center functions and etiquette when taking or making phone calls
- Document all inbound and outbound phone calls
- Implement prior authorization decisions based on criteria and send to clinical review when appropriate
- Triage and escalate prior authorizations, questions, or issues outside the pharmacy technician scope of practice to the direct supervisor or pharmacist on duty
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma or GED required
- Post high School diploma or certificate program completion of a pharmacy technician training program, preferred
- At least one year of pharmacy technician experience in a healthcare or retail setting required
- CPHT-Certified Pharmacy Technician - PTCB - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board required
- PHAT-Licensed Pharmacy Technician - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies required
- Ability to work as a team member
- Attention to detail
- Knowledge of basic pharmacy practices and procedures
- Mathematical computation skills
- Organization and communication skills
- Good typing, keyboarding and proofreading skills
- Ability to work independently within a remote setting
- Knowledge of prescription processing and third-party billing, if applicable
- Proficiency with Microsoft® Office, preferred
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously based off compliance times or due dates
- Must live in Colorado
