About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Answer incoming calls courteously and helpfully using interpretation services when needed
- Perform information lookups using available data sources to provide accurate call resolution
- Fulfill internal and external customer requests, complete transactions, and forward requests when appropriate
- Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments according to approved guidelines, provider direction, patient request, and availability
- Document and communicate actions, complete activity reports, and report equipment malfunctions
- Determine customer requirements, answer inquiries, research information, and resolve or appropriately transfer requests
- Resolve customer problems by researching solutions, implementing resolutions, and escalating unresolved issues
- Educate customers about additional services and guide patients to resources
- Gather, verify, and update demographic, financial, guarantor, insurance, and patient information in practice management, electronic health record, and Denver Health applications
- Complete computerized patient scheduling, collect insurance information, obtain pre-certification authorization and benefit information to support billing and payment
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Two years customer service or healthcare experience Required
- Familiar with a variety of healthcare concepts, practices, and procedures
- Excellent customer focus/service, people skills, listening, verbal and written communication, problem solving and multitasking skills
- Knowledge of standardized scheduling, canceling, rescheduling, attendance procedures
- Knowledge of Commercial Insurance referral and authorization process is preferred
- Ability to perform basic math
- Able to type 40wpm
- Possess knowledge of PC applications (NT, Windows), healthcare applications and phone systems
- Reliable cable-based home internet is required
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test for safety-sensitive positions after a conditional offer
