About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term category strategies for mechanical assemblies, molding, metal stamping, needle manufacturing, converting, adhesives, and resins
  • Own supplier relationships for assigned categories and serve as primary commercial leader across Tier 1 and critical sub-tier suppliers
  • Lead supplier selection, sourcing events, negotiations, contracting, cost improvement, capacity planning, and business continuity initiatives
  • Build value-chain strategies covering raw materials, tooling, manufacturing processes, contract manufacturers, Tier 1 suppliers, and sub-tiers
  • Partner with R&D, Sustaining Engineering, Operations, Quality, and NPI teams on supplier readiness, manufacturability, supply continuity, and product launches
  • Develop supplier relationship management plans, assess risk, and implement mitigation and second-source strategies
  • Use market intelligence, should-cost analysis, total cost of ownership, and fact-based business cases to influence decisions
  • Position Strategic Sourcing as a competitive advantage for Dexcom through innovation, supplier capabilities, cost leadership, resiliency, and speed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8–12 years of related experience
  • Proven strategic sourcing or category management experience supporting mechanical assemblies and related direct materials in a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of molding, metal stamping, needle manufacturing, converting, adhesives, and resins
  • Demonstrated ability to manage Tier 1 and sub-tier supplier relationships
  • Strong negotiation, contracting, supplier relationship management, and stakeholder influence skills
  • Ability to develop quantitative and qualitative business cases and gain senior leadership support
  • Experience delivering results in a matrix organization and leading cross-functional initiatives
  • Strong financial analysis, market analysis, strategic planning, project management, and problem-solving capabilities
  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Preferred: experience in medical device, life sciences, or highly regulated manufacturing; Lean, Six Sigma, value engineering, should-cost, total cost of ownership; NPI, supplier transitions, tooling, capacity expansion, and business continuity planning; eProcurement, spend analytics, supplier performance, and contract lifecycle management systems
  • Willingness to travel 15–25%
