About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee all Remote Hands personnel and tasks at the data center
  • Provide next-level technical support and serve as the point of contact for Remote Hands tasks and escalations
  • Manage hiring, personnel evaluations, coaching, scheduling, and employee timesheet approvals
  • Schedule jobs and personnel to meet project deadlines
  • Generate management status reports
  • Manage tool and test equipment needs and site inventory
  • Ensure proper classification and closure of site requests within agreed SLA timeframes
  • Perform and oversee equipment rack-and-stack, cabling, fiber/copper termination, cross-connects, and hardware/software troubleshooting
  • Power-cycle customer equipment and perform cabinet/cage audits
  • Install or remove blades/cards, memory, hard drives, and transceivers
  • Test and troubleshoot copper and fiber-optic circuits
  • Perform migrations of equipment, power, and networking devices
  • Handle shipping and receiving
  • Provide timely customer and internal updates through the ticketing system
  • Perform and oversee quality assurance checks on requests and Remote Hands projects
  • Assist regional and local management with technician training and knowledge transfer
  • Enforce Standard Operating Procedures and oversee data center cleanliness and appearance
  • Assist Operations team members to maintain customer and critical-infrastructure uptime

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school graduate
  • 2+ years of management/supervision of personnel
  • 5+ years of experience in telecommunications or a data center-related field
  • CompTIA A+ / Network+ certification
  • Ability to rack, stack, cable, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, and servers
  • Knowledge of fiber optic and copper connectivity methods, including Ethernet, TDM, SONET, and DWDM topologies
  • 5+ years using industry-standard test equipment for certifying copper and/or fiber network cabling
  • Strong structured cabling installation and termination background
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Advanced skill in Microsoft Windows operating systems, Office Suite, and Visio
  • Knowledge of Telcordia installation standards
  • Understanding of network device deployment
  • Ability to train lower-level technicians
  • CCNA preferred
  • Ability to report to the facility within a 1-hour average for emergency assistance
  • Ability to lift and handle up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and stretch as required
  • May be required to work under a raised data center floor
