About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and implement a Salesforce automated testing framework from the ground up
- Establish automation architecture, standards, naming conventions, reusable components, and governance practices
- Configure and implement Tricentis Tosca, TestRail with integrated automation, or equivalent enterprise testing tools
- Develop automated functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end test suites
- Build reusable automation components for multiple Salesforce applications and releases
- Replace repetitive manual testing with reliable automation
- Establish processes for test data, environments, dependencies, and automation maintenance
- Develop and execute automated tests across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Flows, Lightning Web Components, Apex, validation rules, approval processes, reports, dashboards, and custom applications
- Validate Salesforce APIs, integrations, third-party applications, and connected business systems
- Develop automated regression suites and validate functionality across user profiles, permission models, and business workflows
- Establish the organisation's automated testing environment
- Configure automation platforms, repositories, test-suite structures, access controls, and reusable test libraries
- Establish test-data management processes and automation workflows
- Integrate automated testing into development and deployment processes
- Implement reporting and dashboards for test outcomes and quality metrics
- Document the automation framework and train team members
- Establish TestRail projects, repositories, test-case structures, and regression suites
- Integrate automated test execution results with TestRail
- Develop and maintain Tosca modules, test cases, execution lists, and distributed execution
- Develop automated tests for Salesforce APIs and external integrations
- Validate REST and SOAP API functionality and data integrity
- Automate integration scenarios, exception handling, and error processes
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and establish automated quality gates
- Support Salesforce sandbox and environment management
- Develop test strategies, plans, scenarios, and cases
- Identify coverage gaps and improve test coverage and quality
- Identify, document, and manage software defects
- Conduct root-cause analysis of recurring automation and testing failures
- Verify defect fixes through automated and manual testing
- Collaborate with development teams to improve application quality and release confidence
- Establish quality metrics and reporting for release decisions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong commercial experience as an Automation Test Engineer, QA Automation Engineer, or Salesforce Test Engineer
- Significant hands-on experience testing Salesforce applications
- Demonstrated experience building an automated testing framework or environment from scratch
- Strong understanding of Salesforce configuration and application architecture
- Experience developing automated functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end test suites
- Experience testing complex Salesforce workflows, configurations, and integrations
- Strong hands-on experience with Tricentis Tosca, TestRail, or comparable enterprise testing platforms
- Experience implementing and configuring testing platforms
- Experience creating reusable test automation components, libraries, and test suites
- Experience testing Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Salesforce Flows, Lightning Web Components, and Apex
- Experience testing validation rules, approval processes, reports, dashboards, profiles, roles, permission sets, custom objects, and Salesforce applications
- Experience validating Salesforce APIs and third-party integrations
- Strong understanding of testing across different user profiles, permissions, and business workflows
- Experience with REST and SOAP API testing and external system integrations
- Familiarity with Postman, REST clients, or automated API testing frameworks
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts and automated testing pipelines
- Strong understanding of Agile development and QA methodologies
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to software quality
- Ability to work collaboratively with technical and business stakeholders
- Proactive approach to identifying test coverage gaps and improving QA practices
