About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Set and own the 6–12-month strategic direction for the retention strategy department, aligning it with company and revenue goals
  • Direct comprehensive retention strategies across multiple product lines
  • Evaluate emerging business needs and market trends and translate insights into actionable marketing initiatives
  • Design and manage a test-and-learn framework for retention offer strategies
  • Conduct advanced cohort analyses and develop differentiated strategies for customer segments
  • Own retention initiatives from ideation and business case development through finance approvals, operational execution, and post-launch performance readouts
  • Build and maintain forecasting models for retention initiatives and churn-reduction goals
  • Apply omnichannel retention expertise across chat, digital/self-service, and live-agent channels
  • Partner with the Care organization and participate in call listenings
  • Lead, develop, and directly manage a team of retention professionals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field preferred; MBA a plus
  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in retention strategy, with demonstrated leadership responsibility
  • Proven track record of leading go-to-market retention strategies that drive measurable business outcomes
  • Deep understanding of current business trends, competitive dynamics, and marketing methodologies
  • Strong expertise in campaign performance analytics and marketing measurement frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex, ambiguous problems with innovative and strategic solutions
  • Experience managing budgets and making financially sound investment decisions
  • Prior experience building, mentoring, and developing marketing talent
  • Excellent executive communication and cross-functional influencing skills
  • May require a background check due to routine access to DIRECTV and DIRECTV customer’s proprietary data
