About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Report to the Vice President, Market Access
  • Execute market access strategies to ensure appropriate patient access to Disc’s therapies
  • Lead activities with assigned national/regional commercial and government payers, PBMs, and GPO customers
  • Manage relationships with senior managed care medical and pharmacy executives
  • Leverage internal subject matter experts to communicate the value of Disc’s therapies
  • Educate cross-functional teams on payer policies
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve access challenges
  • Provide field insights to inform access strategies
  • Engage payer accounts to execute strategic plans
  • Implement access strategies and secure favorable coverage policies
  • Drive brand access strategies across regional affiliates and vertically integrated payer, PBM, and GPO customers
  • Pilot holistic customer strategies for large vertically integrated national customers
  • Develop payer value communications and conduct disease-state education and pre-approval information exchange engagements
  • Collaborate with market access, patient services, sales/brand, and patient advocacy teams
  • Gather market intelligence and analyze payer market dynamics, risks, competitive behaviors, and potential business impact

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant area of study
  • 15+ years’ experience in Market Access in the biopharmaceutical/pharmaceutical industry
  • 5+ years’ experience in an account management role and responsibility for launching rare therapies with payer and PBM customers
  • Experience negotiating with payers and/or PBMs
  • Expert knowledge of U.S. managed markets, including commercial and government payers
  • Demonstrated launch success securing appropriate coverage for rare, specialty medicines covered under the pharmacy benefit
  • Excellent collaboration, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Clinical, technical, and scientific knowledge and aptitude in complex disease states
  • Willingness to travel at least 60% of the time
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to travel by public transportation, automobile, train, or plane, with or without accommodation
  • Ability to work comfortably in a clinical setting
  • Ability to use a computer and communicate via phone, video, and electronic messaging
  • Ability to problem solve and engage in complex and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue
  • Ability to collaborate with others
  • General availability during standard business hours
