About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Consult collaboratively with the Director of Dietary Services and treatment team to ensure high standards of nutrition and dietary services
- Conduct dietary intake within one business day of admission and collect client weight and height
- Calculate BMI/IBW and document results in client charts
- Establish therapeutic relationships with clients upon admission
- Conduct initial, weekly, and discharge client sessions
- Complete daily written documentation and chart client progress against treatment-plan goals
- Meet with each program client weekly and implement individualized dietary meal plans
- Identify weekly treatment goals and communicate client needs to the treatment team
- Co-facilitate therapeutic family meals
- Facilitate weekly nutrition groups for adult and adolescent clients
- Implement a dietary treatment plan within one week of admission
- Adjust individualized meal plans based on weekly weights
- Communicate with referring/outpatient dietitians, physicians, psychiatrists, and family members
- Oversee Facility Coordinator and Diet Technician responsibilities related to kitchen management and emergency food
- Supervise Diet Technicians when applicable
- Represent Center for Discovery at educational, marketing, conference, and speaking events
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree with appropriate emphasis
- Completed accredited dietetic internship
- Fully registered/certified in the appropriate state, or eligible to take the registration exam after completing the dietetic internship
- Preferred: one year of experience in dietary counseling
- Understanding of Motivational Interviewing
- Ability to conduct dietary assessments and calculate BMI/IBW
- Ability to develop and manage individualized dietary meal plans
- Ability to facilitate nutrition education groups and therapeutic family meals
- Ability to communicate with clients, families, treatment teams, physicians, psychiatrists, and dietitians
- Ability to supervise Diet Technicians when applicable
