Asset Protection Specialist

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prevent financial loss caused by theft, fraud, organized retail crime, and operational deficiencies
- Support safety and environmental program compliance in assigned stores
- Execute internal and external theft and fraud strategies
- Communicate with the Asset Protection Specialist Supervisor and Market Asset Protection Manager on investigations and physical security
- Partner with store management and associates to address asset protection issues
- Drive a shrink-elimination culture and participate in the In Focus program
- Detain and interview suspected shoplifters according to local laws and company procedures
- Validate store safety and environmental compliance
- Check facility physical security
- Write reports, preserve evidence, and interact with law enforcement
- Represent The Home Depot in court-related procedures
- Complete required asset protection training and certifications
- Create associate awareness regarding shrink, theft, operational deficiencies, and physical security
- Utilize CCTV, exception reports, and audit Electronic Article Surveillance systems
- Test building alarm systems and conduct surveillance when required
- Use financial indicators and metrics to measure performance
- Report to the Asset Protection Supervisor or District Asset Protection Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ year(s) experience as a retail-related Loss Prevention Investigator (or equivalent) preferred
- Valid and up-to-date security guard license and/or private investigator license where applicable
- Access to a vehicle
- Ability to travel to various stores in the market area as required
- Exceptional knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and accomplish multiple tasks with minimal supervision
- Ability to analyze situations and resolve issues creatively
- Ability to lead and drive complex projects to completion
- Ability to perform physical duties including bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, and extended standing and walking
- Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset
