About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Modernize a legacy production system built on Grails, Angular, and Oracle
  • Own features end to end across the Angular front end and server-side stack
  • Read, document, and reason about existing PL/SQL logic and migrate it into well-tested application code
  • Plan and execute incremental modernization while safely comparing old and new production paths
  • Write characterization tests and expand test coverage
  • Build and maintain containerized AWS services using managed databases and secrets management
  • Diagnose production issues using logs and metrics
  • Develop and improve data-pipeline stages for ingestion, matching, deduplication, enrichment, and geocoding
  • Maintain Elasticsearch/OpenSearch indexes
  • Design event-driven integrations using SQS/SNS queue-based messaging
  • Integrate machine-learning model endpoints into existing pipelines with observability and rollback safety
  • Keep the Grails application stable and secure while it remains in production
  • Write pull requests, design notes, and decision records
  • Collaborate with product, data, and operations stakeholders to sequence migration work around business priorities and risk
  • Report directly to the VP, Data Platform

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and work experience
  • 8+ years building and maintaining production web applications
  • Substantial experience on an inherited system rather than greenfield work
  • Full-stack depth with a modern front-end framework and server-side stack; ability to be the primary author on either side of a feature
  • Strong SQL and ability to read and reason about stored-procedure logic
  • Ability and willingness to work with PL/SQL; Oracle experience is a significant advantage
  • Experience modernizing legacy code incrementally, including strangler-fig, branch-by-abstraction, parallel-run, and characterization tests
  • Production AWS experience with containerized services, managed databases, secrets management, and logs and metrics
  • Strong testing practices
  • Clear written communication through pull requests, design notes, and decisions
  • Ability to work from the Kochi office as part of a hybrid schedule
