About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop, test, and maintain application functionality, primarily backend development (90%+ backend)
- Deliver software features through the full development lifecycle, from requirements through deployment
- Translate business and technical requirements into clean code and reusable patterns aligned with the Laravel/React architecture
- Build and maintain third-party API integrations, including authentication, webhooks, rate limiting/backoff, and error handling
- Review API documentation and develop technical solutions for evolving or incomplete requirements
- Provide light front-end development support in React
- Use AI-assisted development tools where appropriate and validate code quality and outputs
- Follow security, confidentiality, and data protection requirements
- Collaborate with stakeholders and technical contributors to deliver agreed outcomes
- Recommend improvements to processes, development practices, and code quality
- Participate in an initial video interview and two technical interviews
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience designing and developing software solutions
- Strong expertise in PHP and Laravel
- React experience advantageous
- Proven experience with API integration patterns, including authentication, webhooks, rate limiting/backoff, and error handling
- Ability to review technical documentation and translate high-level requirements into effective solutions
- Practical experience using AI tools to support software development
- Good understanding of security and data privacy best practices
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
- Experience collaborating effectively in remote and distributed environments
- Accountability for delivering high-quality outcomes and continuously improving ways of working
- Ability to provide approximately 40-50% overlap with US Pacific Time working hours
- Independent contractor status
