About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the Houston Hub, including Deer Park, Lone Star, Bayport, and Texas City sites
- Share responsibility with the Industrial Hygiene Specialist for implementing the IH management system
- Conduct hands-on industrial hygiene assessments and activities
- Implement detailed, task-level, day-to-day Industrial Hygiene programs using IH work processes, standards, and procedures
- Ensure IH and Health aspects of operating discipline are adequate and applied to meet performance goals
- Serve as section owner for IH sections of operating discipline when applicable
- Act as the plant resource for IH procedures, guidelines, standards, and related information
- Serve as plant contact for IH and Health issues
- Coach teams and individuals on IH-related tasks and activities
- Assist in developing and achieving area or plant IH goals
- Ensure compliance tasks are completed
- Perform or coordinate routine and non-routine IH monitoring, including monitoring strategy, data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Manage IH monitoring equipment and return it in a timely manner
- Participate in IH-related reviews and projects as required
- Coordinate audit schedules for IH-related areas
- Conduct and document incident investigations and ensure corrective follow-up actions prevent recurrence
- Coordinate with Industrial Hygiene Expertise and Health Services to assign medical surveillance requirements to affected employees
Requirements
What you’ll need- A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Ability to work legally in the United States; no visa sponsorship/support is available, including for U.S. permanent residency processes
- Relevant industrial hygiene associate degree or professional certification preferred
- Industrial hygiene technician experience, including dosimetry, equipment calibration and preparation, monitoring methods, and direct-reading instruments such as PIDs and multi-gas meters
- Basic analytical chemistry knowledge to understand lab reports, including flow rates, volume, mass, concentration, and occupational exposure limits
- Experience with or willingness to learn industrial hygiene management software such as Cority, ear-fit, and noise data management
- Basic radiation fundamentals and use of radiation survey equipment
- Strong problem-solving and time-management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
- Occupational health and safety knowledge and compliance
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel
- Ability to lift, push, pull, bend, reach, stand, walk for extended periods, work at heights, and climb stairs and ladders
- Ability to work in indoor/outdoor environments and tight, closed-in spaces
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators, earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes
