About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Share responsibility for implementing EH&S management systems to meet business objectives and maintain the license to operate
  • Provide hands-on environmental, industrial hygiene, and health and safety activities for one or more plants
  • Act as an informal resource for less-experienced team members
  • Partner with plant operations to monitor deficiencies and initiate corrective actions
  • Interpret and apply Dow Safety Standards and Policies
  • Participate in identification, resolution, and escalation of EH&S opportunities
  • Develop and implement H&S management systems, work processes, standards, training materials, and procedures
  • Ensure operating-discipline H&S aspects are adequate and applied to achieve performance goals
  • Implement task-level, day-to-day Health and Safety programs
  • Maintain H&S programs and initiatives designed to improve performance
  • Assist in developing and achieving area or plant H&S goals, eliminating injuries, and reducing exposures
  • Participate actively on the department EH&S team
  • Maintain and update safety indoctrination materials and deliver them as necessary
  • Serve as contact for Environmental, IH, and Health and Safety issues
  • Coach teams and individuals on EH&S-related tasks and activities
  • Ensure compliance tasks are completed
  • Perform or coordinate Environmental and IH monitoring, data collection, analysis, and reporting for the plant

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to work overtime and nights as needed
  • Must have current, valid US Driver’s License
  • Ability to work legally in the United States
  • No visa sponsorship/support is available, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process
  • Previous experience in an operations/manufacturing role with emphasis on EH&S projects and/or initiatives (preferred)
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, and lift
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to work at heights, climb stairs and ladders, and work in tight and closed-in spaces
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including respirator, earplugs, goggles, steel-toed shoes, and harnesses
  • Ability to work at heights greater than or equal to 4 ft off the ground
  • Harness/PPE total weight capacity of 300 lbs
